GRS-IBS (Geosynthetic-Reinforced Soil - Integrated Bridge System)
In January 2011, the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) published a break-through manual of GRS-IBS (Geosynthetic-Reinforced Soil - Integrated Bridge System) under the EDC (Every Day Count) initiative of the US Department of Transportation. The GRS-IBS is a high sustainability bridge system. Design concepts and design equations, developed by Professor Jonathan Wu and Dr. Thang Pham (an outstanding student of Dr. Wu), were adopted as the core design tool in the manual.
